I miss this song...
“Don’t Tell Me You Do” by Rockapella. They need to put back this song into their live concert repertoire…PERMANENTLY.
And for the “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” fans, here’s a gem.
"The warrant!" Fun times.

We'd like a new CD, please.
I saw Rockapella last Saturday and all I have to say is that they need to get workin' on a brand-spankin' new CD and release it by next year, because most of the original tunes that I heard need to be listened to over and over again, especially my new fave, "California Sad-eyed Girl"(my new DTMYD), which is clearly about me...NOT (haha)
Anyway, the Boys were in fine form and it was great to see them having a blast on stage. My one regret is that during the "audience request" portion of the show, I didn't yell out "Don't Tell Me You Do". I've been itchin' to hear that song again. *sigh* Maybe when I see them in December.
Didn't stay for the meet-and-greet, but did manage to cut in front of the line to say "hi" to Scott, hand him a "gift", gave him a hug, and wished them a safe trip to Singapore and Hong Kong. As I walked away, I heard someone yell "Hey Aura!", I turned around and realized it was Jeff callin' out my name. So, I went back, he stretched out his hand (he was sitting next to Scott), I reached back, my arm almost blocking the face of the lady talking to Scott, to touch Jeff's hand. He asked me if I was takin' off, I told him that I was, he said that it was great to see me, I said likewise and then took off. Now, I have to say, in the 6 years that I've followed Rockapella and have spoken to Jeff, he's never, EVER mentioned my name until last Saturday. It was always, "hey, how are you" or "hey you", but never actually uttered my name. I just thought it was very notable. :)
Up next, The Coach House show in San Juan Capistrano which will be in a few weeks. Until then, 'ta!

A Rockapella Christmas
First, let me say that, after seeing them tonight, I realized that I missed those guys. The concert was fantastic! They had an all-Christmas repertoire, which was understandable of course because of the season (duh!) BUT, I really wished they incorporated more of their non-Christmas stuff. But hey, I'll stop complaining because these guys did an amazing job! I absolutely loved their arrangement of "Angels We Have Heard on High" and Scott made my dream come true by singing "Christmas Without You". JB did a tap number (I forget in which song though - sorry), and the guys were just busting with choreography left and right! I enjoyed the "Silent Night" sing-along, and so of course, my friends and I, most of whom are singers/musicians, started singing harmonies, since the whole auditorium decided to just sing in unison. George seemed to have liked it and said that he'd like for all of us to join them on their Christmas tour (but I guess he says that everytime). They did sing "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" and "Carmen Sandiego" for the encore, and "Hold Out For Christmas" as a bonus - off-mic. That was beautiful. However, I really wanted to hear the new non-Christmas songs that I'd been hearing about for the past few months, but I guess they're just going to have to come back some other time for that (just like Jeff promised).
We didn't stay for the meet-and-greet, but on our way to the parking lot, we did run into the guys as they hopped onto this golf-cart which would take them to the M&G site. So, Jeremy asked me if I wanted to say "hi". I said, "why not?!" I, then, took out my camera and ambushed them with a picture. Kevin, realizing who I was, hopped off the cart and gave me a big hug (awww KW, you're too cool)! My cousins and our other friends, realizing that I was talking to the guys, ran towards us, and it seemed like the guys were really genuinely glad to see us. Jeff kept telling us that they'll be back for more shows next year. I told him they better. Scott, who was lagging, finally hopped onto the cart as they were being wheeled away, but I managed to say "hi" to him, and he looked at me and said "Aura, right?" and I said "yeah!". Scott has just scored major "awesome" points for remembering my name after not having seen me in over a year! What are the odds of him remembering my name, after having met thousands of people over the span of his 15-year career with Rockapella?! Yeah, so I love Scott. hehe
I'll post the picture that I took of the guys when I ambushed them with my camera sometime tomorrow. For now, I'm gonna go get some sleep. *yawn* Good morning! ;)

The best part of waking up...
...is hearing Rockapella on your local morning news. I woke up to Here Comes The Sun and Scott Leonard singing "Little darlin..." to me this morning on the WB KTLA Morning News. Nothing like a good serenade from The Blonde One to wake you up in the morning. Can't wait 'til December. I'm willing to bet anything that he and/or Kevin will ask me again how the singing thing is going for me. I'm tellin' yah, Scott fell in love with me when I sang to him...hehe ;)

Is it in you?
On the way home from Palmdale tonight, I asked my aunt to pop in my Rockapella "More Than Ever" CD. While we were listening to it, I casually mentioned that it's an a cappella group, no instruments. My aunt looked at me like I was off my rocker, but my mom chimed in and confirmed what I had just told her. My aunt was totally blown away! Couldn't believe that there were no drums and it was some guy, who's a freak of nature, doing the percussion and drums in the songs. She kept laughing everytime she heard the drums because she couldn't believe it was all produced by a person's mouth (Jeff's in particular - hehe). Looks like I turned another family member into a fan. haha Go me!
Anyway, I used "Is It In You?" as the title of this post because I was just thinking about the song on the way home as I was listening to it. I remember my cousin April and I requesting this song at their Virgin Megastore show back in May of 2000, but they said that they didn't have it ready for live performance yet, although, Jeff did mention that they would probably have it ready next time. Fast forward to 2005 - I'm still waiting! LOL
Is it In You?
Words by Scott Leonard
Performed by Rockapella
Girl it's so easy on nights like this
to become intoxicated on temporary bliss
Wooed by the twilit luxury
of the evening air, the words we share
But I'm thinkin way beyond tonight,
way beyond this view
I can feel forever laughin in you;
girl my life's on the line, are you in?
What are the odds that you could possibly feel
this kind of once-in-my-life,
this kind of change in your life's direction
The odds a smiling angel like you
could ever open her heart,
could ever show me the love I feel
Are your eyes the truth--the windows,
or just mirrors of my own?
Is It In You, Is It In You,
Is It In You to let me know?
Throughout the pages of history,
lie the tales of perfect romance turned to misery
Under the weight of a strained cliché,
with its candlelight, star-filled nights,
But I'm lookin way beyond tonight,
past this purple sky
Anyone can wish it, we can make it real
Are you ready or not, let me know
What are the odds that you could possibly feel
this kind of once-in-my-life,
this kind of change in your life's direction
The odds a smiling angel like you
could ever open her heart,
could ever show me the love I feel
Are your eyes the truth--the windows,
or just mirrors of my own?
Is It In You, Is It In You,
Is It In You to let me know?
What's stoppin you from dancin;
even if it's someone else?
Don't get too many chances;
we've only so many sunsets
What are the odds that you could possibly feel

Rockapella drought.
I just checked the Tour page of the official site and it doesn't seem like a Rockapella concert is in the horizon for me (what's going on with the "supposed" Spring show at the Wilshire Theatre boys?). So, no new shows to report about by yours-truly. However, the FGH concert in NYC happened this weekend, and I hope that "someone" (i.e. my new Pella friend Jugglernaut! LOL) would enlighten us with an account of her Rocka-experience this past weekend - a double-whammy of Rockapella and Sean Altman! :)
I am, however, looking forward to the ICCAs this weekend at USC. Will be rooting for Mt. San Antonio College's 2 groups (Fermata Nowhere - which my friend had a hand in getting off the ground and making them sound decent, now they're phenomenal!,and Nothing But Treble - I have no idea how they sound, but will find out this weekend.). And to top it off, m-pact are the special guest performers at the competition! How cool is that? I hope they sing "U Need 2 No", Suddenly You" and "What if We Was Cool?". That's all I ask!
I still have to edit and post some concert-tale archives that I had up on my old version of got Rockapella? onto this sleeker, spiffier version of gR?. Stay tuned! ;)
Hmm...I talk about a lot of other groups besides Rockapella in this blog, I ought to change the title to got A cappella? because one will notice that this blog will eventually be all about contemporary a cappella groups in general. LOL I don't know if this title-change will come to fruition, but we'll play it by ear as I post more and more.

The Jane Pauley Show - NBC, New York, NY - December 23, 2004
Rockapella made an appearance on the Jane Pauley Show this morning on NBC as part of their "Holiday Harmonies" show, which also includes 2 Yale a cappella groups, The Whiffenpoofs and Out of the Blue, Key of She, and Powerplay. The guys did well, inspite of technical discrepancies. John's mic was a little too loud and Jeff's wasn't loud at all. You could barely hear him percuss. I was a little gutted at that, but overall they sounded great.
Well, technically, I wasn't there in the audience today, but I guess I could count this as a "live" performance of sorts, hence my account of the show. ;-) LOL The guys made me proud! Especially Scott (a.k.a. "Tinkerbell") handled himself pretty well during the brief interview with Jane.
Tomorrow, they will be on a CNN Morning show. Someone record this for me! I don't have cable! Ugh! LOL

Pella dreams?
I had a Pella dream last night. It was a bit bizarre but cool at the same time. I dreamt that I was at a meet and greet after their show at some place of which I have no idea as to where it was. Anyhow, Kevin and I were talking and he told me that he felt bad that he never got a chance to pick me as Pretty Woman. I told him that it was quite alright and that it wasn't a big deal at all. He kept insisting that he had to make it up to me somehow since I had been a very loyal fan and have supported them for a very long time. He and I kept going back and forth, and I kept telling him that he shouldn't make a big deal of it. Next scene: I was in a shopping mall, walking towards a Starbucks (surprise! LOL) and when I walked in, I saw Kevin and Elliott in line to buy something. Kevin looked over, saw me and ran towards me, grabbed my arm and dragged me back to where he was standing in line. He told El that he was going to buy me my drink to somehow make it up to me. So, Kevin paid for my drink and the 3 of us sat down to have a chat. Next scene: Same mall. I was at a store, and Jeff walked in, saw me and came over to give me a big hug. And the whole time he just walked around, looked at clothes with me, and helped me pick them out. Weird. LOL
Anyway, so that was some random dream that I had about the Guys. I remember having another one, years ago, where I was supposedly their 6th member. LOL Yup, me, the 6th member of Rockapella. Yessirree Bob! LOL Anyhow, all I remember was me sitting on Jeff's lap in the back seat of a small, white Honda Civic, with Bear driving, El in the front passenger seat, and Kevin and Scott with us in the back. LOL *cue circus music* Yeah, I had visions of 12 clowns in a VW bug...LOL We got to the club, and during rehearsals, Scott decided to have me take over VP duties for this particular show. We were all standing around the pit area of the stage, with Scott standing in the middle of this mini-circle we've created. Bear was sitting in one of the front row seats, Elliott was untangling some electrical cord right across from him. Kevin was leaning on the stage, Jeff was sitting on edge of the stage, and I was leaning on him with my back towards him. Scott looked over to me and asked me if I was ready. I told him, with confidence, that I was. And... SCENE. Bizarro dream eh?
How about you? Any Pella dreams you'd like to share?

Where in the world is Wayne Brady?
I'm watching my Rockapella video collection right now, and I'm a little miffed that The Wayne Brady Show wasn't on tonight. I thought they were going to premiere it?! Or did I completely miss it? I love Wayne Brady, he's so good at the "musical" improv on the show, and he's not a bad singer either! Anyway, I was watching "Who's Line Is It Anyway?" (hilarious show, btw, one of my faves) and was laughing so hard, my cheeks and sides started to hurt and I started tearing! LOL I used the watch the British version on Comedy Central before they had the American version. Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie are two of the funniest people on earth!….Another show that I absolutely love is "Will & Grace." I love this show, they have such a great cast! And I got a chance to watch a taping of the season finale last year, and got to meet Sean Hayes (Just Jack!), he's sooo adorable and really nice in person. And I absolutely adore Will, a.k.a. Eric McCormack. Got a chance to see him play the lead in the musical The Music Man on Broadway this summer. He's too cute! But throughout the show I kept thinking that Grace, Jack and Karen are going to show up. LOL
Back to my Rockapella videos…Gosh, watching some of the old stuff they had done and their Carmen stint, I'm thinking, they have certainly changed a lot over the years, looks-wise, which is definitely not a bad thing at all! Oh gosh, I wonder if they ever watch any of the old episodes of Carmen? All I can really say is "Wow". LOL
