How’re we gonna pay, last year’s rent?!

Last Saturday - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Very good.
In less than 2 days - RENT - the movie!
Yesterday - Ringers: Lord of the Fans DVD released!
Narnia and King Kong in December. (Have you seen Peter Jackson lately? He doesn't look like a hobbit anymore - wow, the transformation!)

And that, folks, is my movie commentary for tonight. (Well, not really. LOL) I'm tired, good night.

Greetings!

Wow. It’s been a while since I last posted. I’ve been incredibly busy and just didn’t have enough time to sit and write my usual random anecdotes. Stress is a pain. I tried not to stress out, but these past couple of months have been so hectic, everything just started coming down on me, like an avalanche. Praise God I came out of it with my sanity intact (or whatever was left of it). I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving week. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to just veg out and absolutely not do anything. Well, except maybe hang out with the girls and watch Rent coming out on the 23rd.

Besides that, I have no news to tell, except for the fact that I cut my hair short again. I got tired of putting it up in a ponytail, so I decided to get a cut. Still a bit long in the back, so I might go in next month to just trim a couple of inches off. What else is there? Ooh… I met Jason Mraz. It was a brief meeting, but he was nice, and extremely skinny. LOL The concert was great, he sounded great. It was a great night of music altogether. And I guess that’s about it. Nothing too exciting really. I’m telling you, I don’t have much of a so-called social life. It’s pretty much work, home and church for me for the past couple of months. I’m glad I have church to look forward to during the week (mid-week and the weekend), otherwise I’d be pulling my hair out right about now. LOL

Well, I think I’m going to turn in. My contacts are drying up, I need to take them out before I sleep with them on.

Music to my ears.

Just some lovelies to listen to.

BaSix's "Dream Lover"

I love how chill this song is. And the lead singer's voice is like buttah. His mellismas are smooth and clean.

Naturally Seven's "Broken Wings"

One of my favourite '80s songs. And N7 just went to town on this one (this is only a clip, but I heard more of the song their official website). Brilliant. I love this group! They're all such strong vocalists, it's insane!

spiralmouth's "Hush"

Lovely lead vocals courtesy of Tony Fields (a.k.a. Antonio Sol). Nicely arranged - props to Gabriel Mann and co.

spiralmouth's "Nothing is Written"

Gabriel Mann has one of the baddest sets of vocals in the world. His voice is so distinct and raw. I like how this song's arranged as well, nothing too over-the-top. Lyrics are brilliant too.

Real Group's Chili con Carne

This group is the epitome of perfection. I can't wait to see them live. Now, if only they would make their way out here to Los Angeles then I would be one happy camper! :)

Stay tuned for more lovelies...

getting sleepy.

Just came home from hangin’ out with Conan, Katzy, Crystal and Jenna (who both came down from West Covina) at Starbucks. Good times. Now, I’m sleepy. *yawn*

John Legend’s going to be on Jimmy Kimmel tomorrow night, and I’m kicking myself for not reserving free tickets to go see him. *sigh* Oh well.

Okay, I’m gonna go get some zzzzz’s.

A pic to share.

I was just browsing through my Photo albums, and I found this picture of my cousins and I with Ty Taylor (Dakota Moon, Rockstar:INXS) taken in 2003 after Dakota Moon’s final gig. Anyway, just thought I’d share this photo. ;)

Parlez-vous le français ?

My co-worker is giving me free French lessons. So much fun! :) It’s a little tricky, but I think I’m getting it, slowly but surely. ;)

When you feel resistance, it’s time to stop pushing the cutip.

That line from Friends, courtesy of one Chandler Bing, cracks me up everytime I hear it. It’s not exactly verbatim, I think I may have rephrased it, but just the way he delivers the line. Anyway, just one random thought for yah.

I’ve been insanely busy at work for the past couple of weeks. It’s a miracle that I actually have time to write a post right now. God’s is so good though, He’s given me the strength to get me through the madness. It’s sooo easy to complain, to give up, or to freak out. But I always try to remember that God gave me this job, and I am truly blessed to have one at all! I do need a holiday though, of that I am certain.

So, “what’s new?”, you say. Well, not much. My life for the past few weeks have pretty much revolved around work. I’m thankful for the weekends, church is always a refreshing change from the weekly routine.

So yeah, I have new shows this fall. Prison Break for one, and Related. Then, Daniel Deronda on PBS’ Masterpiece Theatre this month. I missed E=mc2: Einstein’s Big Idea on PBS as well, last Tuesday, grrr… Man, PBS is my only source of entertainment and amusement these days. But it’s all good. ;)

Oh, heads-up for all USC Trojan fans (that means, you - April, Jeremy and Ate Joyce - haha). This Thursday, on PBS at 9pm I believe (KOCE Channel 50 - Orange County), they’re having a show solely devoted to Traveler, the Trojan mascot. Anyway, just thought I’d let you know.

Everyone’s been sick in my family. Tristen got the stomach flu, and so did everyone else at their house. It had been passed on to my mom, who’s currently home, resting and riding out the flu. And I think I may be the next victim. Not too fun. I can’t afford to be sick. We’re understaffed at the school, and it’s enrollment time! *sigh* Pray for me.

Well, time to get going. I’m very tired.

And they say it never rains here…

Well, it’s been raining here in “sunny” So Cal for the past 2 days. It couldn’t have come in the most opportune time. My car was due for a wash. I saved $6.50! What a blessing! hehe

It’s been insanely busy at work these past couple of weeks. I haven’t had time to breathe. It’s enrollment time, we’re starting new classes, so the phones have been ringing off the hook, the place has been swarmed by people, coming in, inquiring and signing up their children for music lessons. I can’t wait until November, when everything finally settles down. But of course, October is Recital month, so we’ve got alot on our plates. Pray for me, that I hold up until the end of this year. Being busy is really good for business though. I just need a vacation, that’s all. Someone send me somewhere, anywhere.

These past few weeks, God has been teaching me a lot about trusting Him. Most of the things that I’ve been experiencing make me realize how much I really trust God. It’s easy to say that I trust Him, but it’s a lot harder to do, and for the past couple of weeks, He’s really been stretching me in this area of my life. Praise God!

I praise God as well for my accountability time with Audrey tonight. I’m excited for the things that God has in store for her. God has given her the opportunity to live out her purpose, through helping out a new-found friend. God has amazing plans and I’m confident that He will see it through.

Well, I should be getting some sleep now. Another day of work awaits me when I wake up, Lord-willing.

tag, you’re it.

Ant insisted that I do this, so here goes…

Ten Years Ago: I was finishing up on my OAC classes (Ontario Academic Courses), this was my last semester in high school. My parents and I were also getting ready to pack up and move to Los Angeles so we could be with family. I was dreading leaving Toronto. I had just gotten involved romantically with a boy and I didn’t want to end things with him as we had only been “talking” for about 6 months. I had a very painful, emotional first-half of the year, because I had to say my goodbyes to everyone - my friends, my church-family. I was leaving my life behind. It was a major leap of faith for my family, but most of all, for me. I had no choice but to completely put my trust in God. It was difficult. I was still immature in my faith, even though I had been a Christian for 12 years at that point in my life, in many ways, I was still a baby Christian.

Five years ago: I had to quit school due to my financial situation. I also had to leave my job at the school library so I found myself unemployed. But that was short-lived and my aunt got me a part-time job at the law firm where she works at. I started out as a “gopher”, driving around, picking up and dropping off files between all five offices, and then eventually, I was hired on a full-time basis as a legal assistant at the firm. The money was pouring in, and it seemed like everything in life was great, but I was miserable. I went on vacations, I splurged, thinking that the money will last, but God had other plans for me. I was becoming irresponsible, and was just downright selfish. I was putting up this façade, everything seemed to be alright on the outside, but on the inside I was just a complete and utter mess. God had had enough, I suppose, so He started teaching me a lesson. But I was stubborn, and continued on my downward spiral.

One year ago: I started feeling more comfortable in my own skin. God has given me a second lease in life, and He had blessed me with a job which came in the most opportune time. I was singing again, regularly, with my cousins and Papuri. I had finally faced up to the fact that I’m an adult, I have no more excuses. I have grown closer to God, and to my family. We had started our Young Adults Bible study at Olive which was truly a blessing in itself. My mom and I finally moved to a place of our own, yet another big leap of faith for us.

Yesterday: I woke up fairly late, watched Closer, and then headed off to Cerritos Towne Centre to read and study my Bible. Then, I headed over to work for a staff meeting, went home for a bit after that and then went to my cousins house for Bible study.

long time, no update.

How's this for a concert: Jason Mraz and Dave Matthews in one night? ;)

Yup. Went to go see JM and the DMB at the Home Depot Centre in Carson, CA last night. It was quite an excellent show, although Jason's set was really, REALLY short, and he didn't do some of his old songs as I had hoped, but overall a good night. And to top it off, we got to go for FREE! hehe Last night was my first time seeing Dave Matthews live in concert, and I have to tell you, these guys are amazing musicians. Oh, and Robert Randolph came out and jammed with the band towards the end of the show. Did I mention that we got to go to the concert for FREE? ;)

Got to hang out with most of the old Ordinary People crew last Friday for Kurtz's surprise 31st birthday party. I had no idea how much I've missed singing and hanging out with those people until that night! Just bustin' out "The Reason We Sing" a cappella and Boyz II Men's "Thank You" just brought back a flood of memories - late night rehearsals and randomly singing in public. I'm looking forward to the "Reunion Tour". haha I doubt we'll be able to pull off the dance routines like we used to when were were "younger" (bop!), we may have to resort to sitting on stools this time around. Ordinary People - Unplugged. Quite a concept. :)

Movie recommendation: "A Very Long Engagement" - have a tissue box handy.
